ubuntu 12.04, together with Windows XP Pro, blocks the windows access to Verizon modem when Windows XP Pro is booted

I have the Actiontec modem connected by ethernet to my desktop. Access to the internet is normal for the UBUNTU but when I exit and boot into Windows XP Pro there is no connection.
Can anyone help?
