Slow

Hey Guys,

I'm curious, I'm running a 700 Mhz 512mb pc133 machien. When I had XP
and 2k installed on it, it ran just fine speed wise.

Now that I've stuck Mandrake 9.1 (using KDE 3) on here, it runs
noticeable slow when I have multiple applications open. Like, Mozilla
takes a few seconds to start up and Mozilla mail runs sluggish. Not to
mention things just load slowy and stuff. Now, I haven't installed video
drivers yet (I'm still somewhat of a newb, need to figure out how to do
that), but I don't think that should effect performance in this regard.

Why would KDE be slower than XP?

Thanks for all the opinions...I have a strong feeling this is a rather
obvious questions...<pulls out anti-flame gear>
