Hello,
Sorry about the massive xpost. I think this thread may be of interest to
everybody.
I am in the process of deploying an open source load balancing utility
for a client. Our requirements are simple - a redundant balancing system
that runs on linux that can redirect away from a failed web server on the
back end. There are two front end load balancers and two backend web
servers. Any one box can fail, and the system continues to function. Fairly
typical, I would think.
I have selected eddie (eddie.sourceforge.net) as the must fully featured
open source package out there. Does anybody out there have any experience
deploying this package? Any stories good or bad? Eddie looks tough to use,
and I know nothing about erlang.
I have also discovered balance (balance.sourceforge.net) and appreciate its
simplicity. But I don't know enough about linux clustering to attempt making
the front-end highly available. If there was an easy way to maintain a
front-and linux cluster running balance, that would probably be the best
solution.
If anybody has any alternate plans or opinioins, I'd love to hear them.
thanks in advance,
