I'm trying to install Mandrake 9.1 on an ABIT KG7-RAID (With highpoint
RAID) and I can't make it. CPU Athlon 1.4GHZ, 512MRAM, two IBM 60G HD.
The problem is that the kernel finds hde, hdg and ataraid/do, it
complains that it can't read anything useful from hde/hdg. I then go
through all with creating partitions on ataraid etc, only to end up
with an endless loop rebooting. If I let Mandrake fix the problem, the
highpoint BIOS can't read the RAID at boot up (forcing me to re-create
the RAID), if I ignore all suggested help from Mandrake, I just can't
create any partions which last after an reboot.
I've tried to enter at the boot logon: linux hde=noprobe hdg=noprobe
but then Mandrake can't find any ataraid either.
I just had Redhat 9 installed on the machine (with proper drivers from
Highpoint, but nothing available for Mandrake on their site) so my
hardware is OK.
Please anyone, help me through this, I really want give Mandrake a try
before a totally move away from M$.
Regards from Sweden
