1.I am pretty sure you dont need a swapfile. All the swapfile(s) do is
increase the max possible 'virtual memory'. The swapfile shouldnt be needed
until you have used up all the main ram.
2.You dont have to use a bootloader, but I cant see how you can organise it
to 'only' boot using a bootdisk :)
I actually used to use loadlin so that by storing the kernel in the windows
partition & turning off bios for the linux harddisk Windows dosnt crap on
any partitions except its own. I used to find hda5 missing about evers 2nd
time I used Win. Of course I save a bootdisk or 2 in case Win xxx's things
up
