Hi there,

I'm a complete novice when it come to Linux, so please bear with me. I've
supplied some info to help you guys/gals along :-

PC Specification :-

6gb IDE drive
P1 200mmx
64mb (EDO RAM)
IDE CD-ROM
PCI NIC
NO SoundCard

Booting from a Linux boot disk downloaded from ftp.suse.co.uk - (as my bios
doesn't support booting from CD).

Running the install selecting a 'new' installation

After partitioning my drive (accepting all partition & installation
defaults) I receive the following error prior to file copy :-

"Could not mount partition /devhdc4 to /mmt/. You can continue if you know
what you are doing, but, to prevent damage to your file system, it is safer
to cancel and reboot"

Selecting "Continue" then results in file copy errors, selecting 'ABORT' get
the same error. I guess because the file system to install onto isn't
mounted. The error's consistent, & regardless of which hard disk I attempt
an installation on, I've also tried swapping IDE channels to no avail.

I've tried manually setting the partitions, using guidance from
www.suse.co.uk, but this simply results in the installation hanging with my
CAPS LOCK & SCROLL LOCK LEDS flashing !

Can you send a detailed reply to aloquens@fairadsl.co.uk, or a reply to this
post would be greatly appreciated.

If you require further information please don't hesitate to contact me.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Alex
