mozilla problem, "running helper" but no response

Hi, I am having a trouble with my web browser called "mozilla". I have
redhat 9 installed. It is Mozilla 1.2.1, and whenever I tried to open
".pdf" files, it fails to do so, and I see the message " running helper
" at the bottom of the window.
  Could anybody help me?
