If possible, I would suggest both a kernel and glibc update on yor system,
next could be a gcc update too (but that usually requiers a lot of work when
moving up to the 3.x).
Mozilla is okey, some thinks it's bloated, of course they are right as it has
the mailer, composer, irc and so on... but Firebird lacks the mailer and as it
uis now under linux it's not able to run another external mailer.
Other options that you can look at is konqueror (KDEs browser and filemanager)
or Opera, don't forget, some cases old NS4.x is the only browser working, so
don't remove it, at least not yet.
