Updating Bootsplash

Hi,

I have Mandrake 9.1 which comes with bootsplash 2.02. I would like to use a
textless silent mode with bootsplash but it is not supported in that
version (I have tried booting the kernel with splash=silent but that didn't
work). How do I fix this? Do I need to update bootsplash? If so, how?
