Thats not a Script, thats the kernel.

Look in you XFree-Config-File!

r2 is a minor number. Look in /etc/debversion, there is only 3.0

If your X is missconfigured, your KDE is unstable. No matter which
Version. If you want a newer KDE try a Backport or Unstable (Sarge)

You say Network Card and I think you have DSL. Try pppoeconf. That
works if you have a 2.4.x Kernel. The Kernel that you have (If no
Arguments given to LILO on Install) is 2.2.19

The 2 wasted is your fault. Upgrade, is an Upgrade for older
Versions. And Woody is Stable.
Try to give Information about Hardware and Config and you get help.
And I would prefer to use a debian NG/ML.
