Burning a music CD in redhat 9?

I'm about a step-and-a-half above a total noob, so please go easy on me.
So far, I've tried decoding my mp3s using

lame --decode [mp3name] [wavname]

which gives me a bunch of .wav files that I then attempt to burn. I've
used the burn:/// window that pops up when I insert a blank CD, but this
just makes a CD with a bunch of .wav files that won't play in a CD player.

I've also tried using gtoaster, but with the same results. Actually,
gtoaster just toasted my system, and forced me to power down. That was
annoying... Speaking of that, should I run any type of disk check? I ran
the "your system appears to have shutdown uncleanly", but it failed. Any
help is appreciated.

netrunner.
