Newb:
Using RedHat 8.0
Kernel 2.4.20-20.8
i686
KDE Starts OK
Gnome (I assume that this is the X11 as it is the default
desktop)after login screen, the RedHat logo appears then disappears
and the system hangs for about 30 minutes or so on a blue background
screen then the the GUI appears. Also once inside, GUI file
navigation is useless as opening the home folder results in nothing.
Then 15 to 20 minutes later it appears. After it appears, navigating
around nets the same results. Click on a folder and it will open in
about 15 minutes or so. I do not exaggerate. Help!
What can be done to ensure that the GUI is working properly aside from
using KDE.
Thanks
LS Olsen
