Well, excuse me, Andy boy... What I mean is that I have my network setup as a
workgroup connected to a router, whcih is conected to a cable modem. When I
say I can't "see my XP network", I mean I can't see the other machines or
windows shares from the linux box.

In effect, the linux box is connected to the router and, therefore, has
internet connectivity. I can connect to the linux box from my xp system by
doing an http to the box's IP. I can also ping it. However, when I do that,
it goes to the default Apache web page. From the linux box, however, I cannot
"see" or connect to any shares on the workgroup LAN.

My suspicion is that I have http connection to the linux box, which is on my
side of the firewall. I do not, however, have LAN connection or at least, I
cannot see the linux box in the network from the XP machine or vide versa. I
thoguht that Samba was what was needed to accomplish that small feat, but I
could be wrong...?
