A Google search for: "tutorial cygwin" did NOT return the results that I, a
windows user, need.

I am looking for something to work with, in WINDOWS . . before installing
Mandrake or Redhat.

That Icon on the Desktop simply brings up a Dos Prompt and "help", typed at
that prompt, doesn't give me a clue on what to type in to get started.

[Running MS-Dos 6.2, 616 pages, left over from my Windows for Workgroups
days, was not helpful.]

Any alternatives, or do I simply have to--- "go for it" with Mandrake or
Redhat?
