Hi,

I am trying to get an Agfa Snapscan 1236S to run under SuSE linux 9 prof.

For scanning I have XSANE and Kooka.

Scanning works, but I cannot get the transparency unit to work. Kooka does
not tell me anything about what is going wrong, XSane tells me there is an
IO-error - whatever that will mean.

Kooka version is 3.2.0-7 (latest I could find RPM for; located inside
KDEgraphics3-scan).

XSane version is 0.92-pm.0 (also latest I could find RPM for).

Sane version is 1.0.10-203.

Update for Sane is 1.0.13-0.pm.3 - I have not upgraded to this one because
my Agfa scanner is listed as a "generic scanner" there and there is no
driver for this scanner explicitely as it is now with sane 1.0.10-203.

So, question is: does the transparency unit work at all or is it likely to
be a hardware failure this time? I can hear the engine is turned on and its
light is being turned on as well. Transparency unit has worked fine under
Windows (several months ago...) though it DID make strange noises on
occasions... I do not have Windows installed anymore so I cannot check with
it at the moment.

Kind regards and thanks for any help,
Lutz.
