    Greetings group

I downloaded and burned the knoppix live cd and used it to browse around the
net for a while. Knoppix found and configured all my hardware except the
sound card (another, less important issue). After using knoppix for a while,
I used the option to do a HD install so I could keep knoppix (now debian) .
Anyway, I have been googling for about a week trying to find out why my SBC
dsl connection is not working when I boot into debian. It still works fine
under knoppix so I know there is not a hardware issue with Linux. In my
googling I read about the firewall causing this at times, but the only
reference I find for a firewall on my box only points me to the proxy which,
from what I can tell, is not that configurable. Has anyone else had this
problem switching from knoppix to debian?
Being as green as I am about Linux I am open to a different distro as long
as it has PPPOE support and a configurable firewall.
