Linux distro that auto-detects HSP modems?

Hello people.

I will use Linux on my work computer, and I would like to know one thing:

Is there any linux distro that automatically detects HSP modems and other
"winmodems"?

Since if I install Linux and my winmodem does not work, I won't be able to
connect to Internet to get drivers.
