im using a hauppauge wintv express card with the connexant cx88xx chipset.
im using slackware 9.1 with a 2.6.5 kernel (with everything under dvb,
i20, i2c, v4l compiled as modules. i also downloaded the cx8800 modules
from bytesex.org. apparently /dev/video isn't a device according to
tvtime, xawtv, kdetv and cat

(i created it with mknod /dev/video0 c 81 0 ; ln -s /dev/video0 /dev/video )

any ideas?
