I realize I'm preaching to the choir but I just had to say something.

I just upgraded part of my home lan to gigabit on cat-5e. Open the
computer up (after powering off), pull the old NIC, drop in the new
NIC (Netgear), power up, and Suse found the new hardware and
configured it. Period, Done.

The last time I had to change NICs in Winblows XPensive, it was a 3
hour nightmare of remove card, insert card, driver load, remove card,
try another driver, swear, repeat.

Damn, I'm glad I installed Linux.
