It is okay to crosspost, only up to about 3 groups though and no more. To
crosspost, you put the names of all of the newsgroups that you want to post
to in the newsgroup box of your news reader so that it will be posted to all
of those groups at the same time, it is done like so:
Newsgroups: alt.linux, alt.os.linux, comp.os.linux
When you do it this way, answers from any group will be posted back to all
the newsgroups and folks don't have to waste time answering something that
has already been answered.
Welcome to the linux newsgroups, Cubic, this is a very good place to get and
give linux help. Some of the more "brainy" types have a low threshold for
dealing with newbies, but if you can just filter out the abrasive context of
their replies, the underlying help is usually very good and very much on
target.
