On my personal web sites, when posting pictures, I usually do a bunch of
thumbnails - each is 160x120 - click on the thumbnail and you can see the
640x480 or 800x600 image. It also helps to do a fairly drastic jpg
compression. You can make the total size of the image quite small and
still get all the necessary detail.
