Slightly OT. Free software for Linux and Windows

I'm trying to compile a list of free software that works on both Linux and
Windows. I intend to put it on a web page. I would like to here about the
software you use particularly if you can give a resume of it. I'm trying to
show that Linux can fit in with a Windows network.
