If there is no other chance (forging IE from mozilla or whatever else) to
get to such sites you need at work, invest the small amount of money and
time to install crossover office. IE6 does run reasonably within that, as
well as microsoft office (2K, XP).
However, it's still a crutch ...

If enough people do so, why not? Recently IE has proven to be such a big
security leak, that even lot of windows users prefer some alternative.

Is "my bank" your private or work-related? If private, go ahead and change.
Conditions are almost similar nowadays, and there are banks with useable
web/telebanking interfaces that can be accessed by linux/java or whatever.

Well, word by itself is known to reformat whole big documents to a big mess,
if you just change the printer (or open the doc at a different computer
with another printer attached). There are also differences in formatting
depending upon the installed fonts here and there, and different
windows/office versions. You and your coworkers have to live with that, or
use LaTex/postscript docs.
