I have a 300MHz computer I've been using as a server for quite a while and
it's done a great job. But recently the harddrive started to develop
several bad sectors and had to be replace with a nice big 80GB
westerndigital.
The bios recognizes the drive as a 32GB drive with the cylinder limitation
jumpers in place, locks up without them. I have been reading that linux
does not require the drive overlay software to be loaded in order for the
system to read the rest of the drive, but I can't seem to find out how to
setup the system. I'm also not sure what to use for the harddrive values,
as the cylinder limitation jumpers appear to change the way the harddrive
looks to the system.
On another computer w/o limitation jumpers:
C/H/S: 38309/16/255
W/ limistation jumpers
C/H/S: 4111/255/63
Any help appreciated
