To learn something general is to setup a LFS, but keeping it up to date and
expand it will requier a lot more than using a distro, as you must keep
yourself informed on the state on all the software you have installed, the
more you have the more time you have to spend on checking, I don't recommend
it as a daily used system, but a learn and experiemnt system.
