Oh, no problem. It's not like I'm paying you for your help - you, know.
I appreciate the time you have given me. Having made no progress I
decided to back-burner the issue for a while and work on something else.
I can now happily use my Audigy's remote control with lirc and the
xmms-plugin. It was not hard to get xmms to play my music out the
second port, so I have not missed much but system sounds. And I am not
sure I really miss those too much.
I would say I'm missing my realplayer audio... but as it happens,
reaplayer, totem, and java are giving me trouble enough. Firefox just
crashes and disappears if I go to a java page using a user account. But
if I run it (firefox) from a root-terminal it is fine. Realplayer just
never seems to start anymore. Totem crashes immediately complaining
about a resource missing or unavailable. I'll tell you, the missing and
unavailable resource is a good error description. And besides those
annoying issues, I still have not managed to get my nforce3 sata
working. Lastly, I tried to install mplayer and the mplayer plugin (for
firefox/mozilla), only to find that mplayer freezes on play and the
plugin, likewise, fails.
Despite all this, I have been having fun with other stuff on my system.
I don't want you to dive into my little laundry-list there. I
appreciate the help with the sound card ordering issue enough. There is
a trick, you know, to being always welcome in someone's home. It is in
not overstaying your welcome.
Peace,
Morningdew
