I compiled the 2.6.11 kernel for my system (AMD Athlon, 1GB RAM,
SoundBlaster sound card, disabled mobo audio, Mandrake Linux 10.1), it all
boots and works great EXCEPT that during the boot I get an error saying
ALSA mixer device not working because no sound card detected. Yet once
booted into Gnome or KDE I can get sound playing in xmms by changing the
settings in xmms options (choosing device as default) and by running
gnome-alsa mixer where the PCM and Master volumes are muted (and though I
unmute them to hear sound they revert to mute during the next reboot). Any
tips to help me solve this? I am a newbie to kernel compiling, but I would
sure like to learn to do it successfully. Any info I need to post that
would help solve the riddle? Thank you in advance.
