Uhh...I'm just popping in to comment on these things you mention...First,
Linux isn't even aiming to be less complicated and easier than windoze in
the way you want it to be. I can't think of pretty much any OS that is
what you wish. Of course, with some Linux distros there is no need to know
pretty much anything about your computer, installing software is just
point-and-click, and updating things is just as easy.

It's already a viable Windoze replacement, but you're mixing things up at
the moment. Just because linux isn't foolproof system which a 5-year-old
kid can use, it is still a windoze replacement, and a pretty good one.
Just think of it for a second; is windoze so easy? No? Can you then claim
linux is worse than windoze because linux isn't that?

Almost any linux distro is pretty much up to your expectations here: there
are only *very* few Linux viruses, and they are getting quite outdated.
The only ones I know are for an old Red Hat -version and were aimed at
networked services like apache. If you're not going to do stuff like that,
I pretty much doubt there is anything to worry about in any way. Most
Linux systems don't even need a firewall. I've never used one, never
needed one, and even though I am always experimenting with new stuff,
having tried a whole bunch of different network setups and services, I've
never had any worms, viruses, malicious programs or any hackers that could
    have gotten into my systems.

Hey, hello, you can't really justify comparing a microwave oven and a PC,
you do understand that? Besides, doing for example some writing,
formatting the page and then printing it, sharing to other people and so
on require alot more than warming up some food. There will probably never
be a computer which doesn't ask you things, but I agree that sometimes it
asks a bit too much. Now, as to antivirus updates, upgrades etc; if you're
running some decent Linux distro, you probably and most likely won't ever
need antivirus software, unless you deliberately install wine/crossover
office/cedega and execute all the mail attachments and suspicious programs
popups offer you. If you're not planning to do that, then you can just
install a distro, and not worry about a thing.

All in all, I don't really understand what you're bitching about. MS
Office, firewalls, antivirus software etc are things Windoze suffers
about, but apart from those even it does seem to fit the things you
mentioned. I am not trying to bash you or such, I am just giving my
insight on things. Oh, and by the way, my IQ is 133, which is somewhat
more than the european average. I'm not smart, but not stupid either.
