Exactly! I have a cf 802.11b wifi card that I wanted to use in a laptop
(with a cf-pcmcia adapter). The card has an orinoco chipset, & windoze
couldn't get it to work with one of it's drivers (the vendor supplied a
driver cd, but only for pocketpc). I booted linux & it ran fine on the
orinoco_cs.o driver (it was meant for pcmcia, but pcmcia & cf are the same
thing basically, just lower voltage).
So one for linux, 0 for windoze.
Plus, my lowest pci expansion slot's not detected by windoze 'device
manager' thingie for some wierd reason, but I can see it in "lspci" output
in linux (& the card connected to it works also).
Windoze may work well on generic hardware, but it has quirks you may not
notice at first. Linux is so transparent thatit will give you all the
information you need about your computer and interact better with your
hardware.
