    Let me get this straight: the computer hangs while Xandros is trying to
    detect hardware, which means it's already booting Xandros? If so, GRUB
    is probably not your problem, it's Xandros.

    Have you tried running Xandros on this machine by itself?

    Also, please provide a detailed description of the hardware you're
    running on, it may be useful in solving this problem
