RedHat 7.1 is discontinued and is quite unsecure, you should upgrade to at
least RedHat 7.3 or RedHat 9 (both are still supported by fedoralegacy.org),
or you can go for the latest version Fedora Core 4.

RedHat 7.x uses Gnome while RadHat 8 and later uses something called Gnome2,
those aren't the same things even if they share the same name.

If you want to use Gnome2 then you need to upgrade to RedHat 9 (RedHat 8 has
been discontinued and is unsecure to use) or later, there aren't much point in
trying to compile Gnome2 for older versions of RedHat as it's a big job and
there is no good documentation about dependencies, but if you want to do it,
it's possible but will take a lot of tries and errors, so it's not worth the
trouble to compile it for an unsecure version of RedHat and I would say it's
not worth to compile it for RedHat 7.3 (I have done that with an early version
of Gnome2).

RedHat decided to call the home user version of RedHat for Fedora and that can
be found at fedora.redhat.com, so with other words it's not much more than a
name change.
