This is my 3rd post. I decided to spilt them into three. First was
about my problem with Hardware, Software. Second was about moving to
different distro with older CPU.

This one is about building a new system.

I have been think of building a new computer. My new system will be
64bit cpu preferably AMD.

However, I will not start building it for various of reasons, and I am
hoping you guys will tell me if my decision is based on vaild reasons.

My future PC would carry follow things.

AMD Base Motherboard with VIA chip with cool and quite feature
64bit Athlon base CPU over 2 Gig (maybe duel core)
200 Gig Sata II Hard drive (command queuing and with 16 mb cache)
1 Gig Ram (doing some research on this one)
150 MB Video Card (friendly with Linux Distros)
DVD +/- 16X with SATA II (will they come with command queuing?)

Rest will be from old machine or some spears parts of I have.

Creative Sound Blasher PCI
DVD ROM
Floppy Disk

My Reason for not building it now:
As you can see from my wish list - most of the things I want are not
there, or the information about them - lot to be desire. For example
there is a Sata DVD Rom with CD-RW feature. However, it's not DVD +/-
RW, and I'm not sure if it's Sata II, and I would like them with the
command queuing. As far as I know, there is no information about
upcoming Sata II DVD-RW, nor companies are telling public if they will
bring DVD with command quequing.

Further more media is not telling the true reason for 64 bit CPU, nor
the reason behing with dual core. Sun and IBM have been making CPU with
four cores, to me this proof that CPU market is maturing (as in 65
years old man).

Now as most of you know they both Intel, and AMD are not able to build
higher clock CPU due to heat issue. Anyway, I am worried of building a
system that will be no use to me in near future. Should I go with 64bit
single core or twin core, and I am not sure if duel core are worth
throwing money away considering I don't use any application that need
such high power PC.

What would you guys do.

I mostly use lynx, mplayer, k3b, firefox, samba, and few games such as
frozen-bubble. All my application work fines in my old system. (Okay I
have a freezing problem in linux :( I was able to solve it by not using
Samba

Do you think I should wait a year or two until hardware and software
are mature enough and prices are also down?
