Suppose I have an 8GB ext3 Harddrive that is currently empty (I haven't
put anything on it at all, but will probably want to have some bootable
portion loaded). I want to back up an image of the MBR and the exact
contents of an NTFS drive that has 3.5GB onto it. The best way I can
figure to get this going is:
1. Make it boot to this drive with an absolutely bare-bones install of
LFS or something on, (this install would be included on the DVD backup
hopefully - less than .9GB).
2. dd the image of the NTFS drive to this drive - this is cake I'm
told.
3. Using the LFS book compile some sort of installer, bootable DVD that
prompts for nothing more than "Are you sure?" and can format and
partition the drive and dump the image. - Doesn't have to be a liveCD.
3.1 All this DVD needs to include is the linux bits necessary to do the
dump, boot stuff, and the image.
*Care to fill in the blanks or help me figure out how to do this?*
