Am trying to pipe sound from one machine to another, whilst watching video
on primary machine
Er.. whats the best way for me to explain this :-)
I have a slackware box, and a debian box
I want to watch video (if there is any) on the slackware box, but pipe the
audio to the debian bos (thats where the stereo is)
Ordinarily That would be acheived with X-Forwarding, ie on the debian bos
DISPLAY=:1.0
however, the files reside on the slackware box, so only the audio is being
piped
I have spent the better part of today *trying* to get ESounD to work, but
to no avail. Ive tried the eserver running at both ends, and clients at
both ends but for some reason or rather the clients I have tried either
wont play the files, or wont send anything over the wire
Ive also had a *brief* look at nas but that requires xfree86 to be
installed on my (up till now) headless box
I have also tried NFS and shared the media to be played with the debian
box which whilst successful, isnt meeting my needs because I need both
boxes up to play media.. or need to copy the data to each box
This also went for a perl script I was using except I couldnt play .mp4
so in brief.. Im lost :-)
I want video played on slackware, but audio directed to debian, regardless
of where the file is held
*Preferably* without X installed on the debian box
