I got trouble with one P166 when upgrading from 2.2 based Linux to 2.4, had to
make a BIOS upgrade to be able to boot the new kernel. But I didn't have the
harddrive trouble that you seem to have had, had those "huge" 6,4GiB
harddrives. But there are some BIOS versions that has problems with Microsoft
products too.
