Hi I have a compaq pressario 1275 laptop I want to install a version
of Linux on it but havn t had luck. I ve tried Suse 9.1 and 9.2 I don
t have enough hd space for this apparently. Red Had 9 tells me that
it basically won t set up on this pc. Mandrake 10 and 10.1 starts the
boot but will not recognize the disk. Slackware freezes while setting
up. Ive even gone as far to try Lindos but no luck. Is there a version
some one can recommend? This is a 366mhz K6 chip with a 4 gig hd and
160 mb of ram.
Thanks
The newest Debian is not that difficult to install, and a Deb system can
be stripped down to a couple of gb. You might also give Elive a shot - it
is an installable live CD based on Debian. There is also 'Damn Small' and
Puppy. You may very well need ndiswrapper for the wifi.
