Recording DVD Images and DVD Disk Size

I am downloading DVD images of a lecture. They are .img format. How
should I burn them? I want to be able to watch them on DVD player - as
well as computer. There are two images of them. Can I burn them into
one DVD? Combine size of these images are about 3.7 Gig. I don't want
to waste two DVDs.

DVD Size 4.2 label as 4.7

I normally use K3b for recording - mostly data. Now, I may start
recording DVD size lectures, and I may even have to copy few. What
software should I use? Is it possible to edit DVD before copying -
using Linux apps?

PS: I might be wrong, I had bought few DVDs which were actually 4.7 Gig
rather then 4.2 (label as 4.7) since I don't have them, I am wondering
if all DVD -/+ are 4.2 Gig and label as 4.7.
