Keyboard fails in XWindows mode & PS/2 mouse connection troubles

Hi all,
I have had on more than one motherboard
and operating system, the keyboard fail to function
after I get into the GUI or XWindow mode. It will work
just fine in the BIOS and during the verbose startup
process, yet at soon as one gets to the user and
password step in getting into the GUI or XWindows
mode, it behaves has though the connection has
failed. No response at all. If you have ANY idea
of what's going on I would appreciate hearing about
it. It is not impossible that the connection was
disturbed during the OS install in this last case.
On prior cases, I doubt this very much.
I'm also trying to sort out the pin configuration
on the MB of one of the apparently multi-various
versions of ASUS's P/I-P55T2P4/100. The manual I
was able to download is quite different from the
MB's layout that I have. Using a multi-meter to
measure voltage on the five pins that have 'PS1'
printed next to it, I get:
Power On: Power Off: My Guess:
5V 81.6 Ohms 5V Power
0V 0 Ohms Ground
0V(about) No Connection
5V 2344 Ohms Data
0V 2344 Ohms Clock
(I have noted on another system that 5V can also
indicate the data line if I'm working everything
properly.) If you have better information I'd
appreciate your response here also.
Sincerely,
Gregory D. MELLOTT
