Re: GRUB options

Thank you to all that responded! I am sorry, I made a mistake, I have Fedora
core 2 (not 4) installed. There's a GRUB directory in the /boot/grub path.
I tried to modify the menu list file, but it doesn't allow me to. I thought
I saw something that would allow me to change the boot order in one of the
drop down menu's? If I upgraded to Fedora 4 or another distrubution of
Linux, would it affect the other OS I have installed? The other OS is on
another partition by the way. Thank you very much!

Hi. I installed Fedora core 4 on a test machine, and I have another

can
I go to modify GRUB's boot order, etc? As it is now, I have to select

any changes that would make both OS's non-bootable. Thanks.

edit /boot/grub/menu.lst

Hi Ted,

In my experience, it will not effect the other
partitions unless you set them to be reformatted
while you are defining the partition(s) to be used
by the new operating system. I fact, I may be more
un-informed than you. I set up a boot partition for
each of the LINUX OSs installed. This may actually
be a waste from some perspective. It is only 100MB,
though, and probably could be smaller. And it might
let me play with setting up a different way to boot
should things fail on the one. I'm not that wise
yet though.

I assume you are running as root while trying to
modify Grub's menu list. It surely doesn't work
if your not.

Sincerely,
