'Twas brillig, and the slithy Big Daddy did gyre and gimble in the wabe:

I am trying to reinstall XP and Fedora as dual boot with one on each
of two drives in my system. I messed it up since I had to reinstall XP
after it became unusable.
I reinstalled XP and now I can't get the grub screen to come up so I
can boot into Fedora Core. I wiped both drive and used the Hitachi
utilities to wipe the MBR on both drives too.
I reinstalled XP first and then Fedora and it still boots directly
into XP. Is there anything I could be doing wrong?
Does hardware switching work better like the drive trays that swap
out?

In my experience the best way to install dual boot with Windows on 2 HDDs
is
to put the HDD you intend installing Windows on in the PC *on its own* as
a
single master and install Windows.

Then configure the Windows HDD as the slave and put the HDD you intend
installing Linux on in as the master and install Linux. The bootloader
should detect the other disk with Windows on it and configure itself
accordingly. Make sure to put the bootloader on the MBR of your master
(Linux) HDD.

I'm amazed that anyone would feel contempt for someone who is only now
trying Linux. I'm 70 and an struggling to load Linux for the first time. I'm
not stupid but I am inexperienced with Linux. Feeling superior about
something that you do better than someone else is not a good thing. I can
run and fix any machine, (Almost lol). I can fire an artillery gun. I can
drive a tractor trailer. I can manage a manufacturing facility with 400
people for 25 years. But I am STUPID with Linux. Please be nice to us first
timers, OK?
Now to MY problem. I have e-mail xandros but it is a holiday weekend. Happy
easter everyone BTW.
I installed xandros(chosen because it is supposed to be easy for newbies) It
installed just fine but then the boot loader couln't find XP(needed for
wifes games, next anniversary 48 years.)
I reinstalled Xp and lost the boot menu. I reinstalled xandros and boot menu
couldn't find XP again. Grrrr. My wife is now on my back. It looks as though
the boot menu won't recognise both OS's. I chose install with Windoze. and
when I look at my hard drive in XP I have lost 100 GB, which I assume(no
jokes please) is my linux partition.
Like I said I have e-mailed xandros but it is a long weekend.
