Walter H Donavan said something like a ...
sudo dpkg -i gimp_2.2.4-2_i386.deb
How's about: sudo -i /path-to-file-location/filename.deb
as an example;
sudo -i /home/walter/Desktop/filename.deb
Isn't there a sources setup option in synaptic/apt-get?
