There are software packages, such as OpenOffice, that will run on both
platforms. These, of course, require platform specific packages.

It is not technically feasible to create an executable that will run on
both platforms, if that is what you are after.

Certain MS programs can be made to run on a Linux machine via WINE.

What exactly did you have in mind?
