ati radeon driver hell

Hi
The subject line pretty much says it all.
I've been trying to install the fglrx64_6_9_0_SUSE101-8.28.8-1.x86_64.rpm
onto my system. But I ran into the dependency run around. I'm running suse 10.1 (64)
and I need lib files from Glibc-2.2.5 and 2.3 and libgcc-s.so and it goes on. So when I try to install the Glib rpms, I'm told I already have them or newer ones just to rub it in some. This is really driving me nuts.
