machines it's nVidia cards with the closed source driver (waiting for the open

Radeon cards with the open source driver.
I am also using Radeon, however, with close source drivers, it works
great with 3d games, gl apps. How is open source driver?
The opengl stuff works fine and you notice a great deal of difference against running MESA and there are some who claim that the open source driver does give around the same speed as the closed source driver from ATi. I can't confirm this, as ATi only makes the closed source driver for x86 based systems (they did at least supply information for the open source one once in the time). I have played both Quake2 and Quake3 with OpenGL on the PowerPC machine and it did go well, otherwise there not been that much use for me to use opengl on the PowerPC nor the Sparc machine.
