Doug Lindquist enlightened us alt.linux-(ab)users with:
anybody know where I can find some good information on how to set up a
network under linux. I work at a community center and we are
switching
from Windows to Linux (Fedora Core 5). we need to share a printer
over
If you just want to share a prrinter, use a tcpip printserver or a
printer with a builtin network card like jetdirect. It prints from
windows (NT, 2K, XP) when attaching as a "local printer" with "tcpip"
or "lpr" port. No authentication needed. Works like a charm from linux
as well, and you don't have to keep a computer up all the time, for
just serving the printer.
