Leave the Xandros/ Linux XP distributions in the trash then.
Mandriva Linux does not do that. If you have about 6 gigs of free
space for a seperate partition, and room to download burn 3 cds, you can
get the free 3 cd set and have a multiboot system to play with.
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ has plenty of mirror selections to get
the 2006, production release, cds from.
Just hunt around for the iso directory, example
ftp://ftp.proxad.net/mirrors/ftp.mandriva.com/MandrivaLinux/official/iso/2006.0/i586
and pull the checksum and cd images.
