I have tried Debian, E-Live, Knoppix, Suse, Ubuntu, and Xandros...they
are all neat in their own way.... I keep coming back to Ubuntu but
E-Live is way cool,,,Xandros seems to look a lot like Windows,,,,
I have a lot of removable hard drives in racks and trays but only have
three large ones...(200GB) so my question is how many distros can fit on
a 200Gb hdd without a partition nightmare...most installs seem pretty
safe if you let the install partition manager take control.........
I have installed 8 or so on an 80G hardrive, so it should be quite
possible to install everything you have mentioned. Install each linux
into a sinlge / filesystem and use a shared swap. Ubuntu Feisty
doesn't seem to like logical partitions above 12 (?), so put it and
swap on a low partition. Otherwise you can generally go up to about
hda16. Use a reliable tool (I like cfdisk) to prepare partitions for
install -- "automagic" partitioners built into installers often screw
up. Full installs of SuSE and Fedora require about 10G of space, you
can get away with 5 for Ubuntu and Slackware.
