Besides that, some distros offer different tools for
monitoring a lot of things, BackTrack being one of them.

From different sources, it seems that the easiest distros, forNewbies are - but in no particular order:
Xandros, Mepis, (K)ubuntu, PCLinuxOS.
Which one is the most stable?
Debian and Slackware have very good reputations.
