First, I am not trying to start some spam war. I have been trying a
number of different Linux and OS's. Like FreeBSD and Solaris. So, my
question is, is there a best desktop OS?

Personally, I like OpenSUSE. It's the first distro that I've really felt was
installed properly and ran stable.

I've tried Mandrake and kUbuntu and RedHat. Years ago I was even running
OS/2. I still remember downloading dozens of 5.25" diskette images to try
out Linux on my 286. That WAS a while ago.

That's funny, since it took a 386 processor to run Linux. Must be a typo. ;)
