For the RedHat distros, updating/removing is done with the rpm command or with
one of the many front ends.
rpm -Uvh <rpm package filename>
rpm -evh <rpm package name>
The front end you have selected require by default that you are connected to
internet when you try to use it. If you aren't you get the message you typed.
